Bournemouth shock Chelsea, Spurs defeat United

Bournemouth shocked Chelsea as they scored 3 in the second half to win 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues dominated most parts of the match but were unable to find the net. Chelsea had 21 shots at the Bournemouth goal however only 5 of them were on target. Chelsea’s struggles in goals department in the recent matches continue with this result.
On 51st minute Jordan Ibe put through Callum Wilson with a well weighted through pass which the striker hit past Thiabut Courtious’s goal post. Junior Stanislas doubled the Cherries’ lead in the 64th minute while Nathan Ake, former Chelsea man, scored the third on 67th minute to put it beyond the Londoner’s reach. This result sees Chelsea drop to fourth on goal difference with Liverpool while Bournemouth rise up to tenth.

In the other match, Tottenham Hotspurs beat Manchester United 2-0 through Christian Erikksen’s first minute goal and Phil Jones’s own goal later in the match. Eriksen scored the first goal in 11 seconds into the match recording the fastest goal in the Premier League history. On 28th minute Phil Jones inadvertently put the ball into his own net from a Kieran Trippier cross. Spurs maintain pace with Liverpool with this win whom they face on Sunday at Anfield. Spurs remain two points behind Chelsea and Liverpool.

In the other matches, Everton beat Leicester City 2-1 as Theo Walcott scored a brace. Jamie Vardy got one back for the Foxes however that was not enough to snatch a point at Goodison. Newcastle played a 1-1 draw with Burnley who are winless in 8 Premier League matches now. Manchester City continued their fine form with a 3-0 win over West Brom with goals from Fernandinho, Kevin De Bryune and Sergio Aguero. With this win and United’s sufferings at Wembley, City open up a 15 points lead over Manchester United. Liverpool climb up to third on goal difference pushing down Chelsea. Both clubs are on 50 points while Spurs are two behind on 48. Arsenal’s defeat to Swansea means that Arsenal are 8 points adrift from the Champions League qualification places. Other results see Southampton and Brighton play a 1-1 draw and while Stoke vs Watford ended goalless.

Bottom of the Table

With these results, West Brom find themselves in deep trouble at the bottom of the table as they find themselves 4 points from safety at the bottom of the table. Swansea and Southampton make up the other bottom three places in 19th and 18th respectively.
